Knee Replacement Surgery Options

Today’s episode is about knee replacement surgery… Are there alternatives to knee replacement?
A total of 676,000 knee replacement surgeries were performed in 2011. That number is expected to increase to over 3.48 million by the year 2030, fueled by an active and aging Baby Boomer population.
While knee replacement surgery works for many people, it is a procedure that has many potential complications associated with it the most common being heart attack, blood clots to the lung, wound infection, hospital readmission, and pneumonia. Loosening of the prosthesis can also occur. And activity limitations can be restrictive, particularly if you have been active in the past. And this metal and plastic is irreversible. Once it’s in, it’s in until it needs to be replaced again… and again.
