So what are these things called stem cells that are being used for arthritis treatment and cartilage repair? Mesenchymal stem cells are found in many organ tissues such as bone marrow, fat, periosteum, deciduous teeth, synovium, and muscle. What makes them attractive is that they can be coaxed into becoming different types of connective tissue. That includes cartilage and bone.
